Hire of Walkley Community Centre Snooker Hall
Please read the following conditions of hire. All bookings are made on the understanding that people hiring the snooker hall agree to abide by these conditions.
Security & Safety
1. As the hirer, you are responsible for the security of the snooker hall and the centre. We insist that the front door be locked during your hire period.
2. Please lock the front door behind you on entry and exit. Breach of this condition will result in the immediate cancellation of your hirer agreement.
3. Keys to the Centre remain the property of WCC and must not be copied or given to another party without the express permission of WCC.
4. Access is not permitted at any other times without the express permission of WCC. A key deposit of £20 will be charged at the commencement of hire and returned if the hire is terminated.
5. If you cease to hire WCC, or your hire is terminated by the trustees, any keys in your possession must be returned on the last day of hire.
6. If the keys are lost you must notify a snooker steward immediately. Please ensure the keys are not marked as being the keys for the centre to reduce the possibility of misuse if lost. If the keys need to be replaced you will be charged the cost of replacing them. If the loss of the keys jeopardizes the security of the building and we need to change the locks, this cost will be passed to the hirer.
7. Please ensure that you are familiar with the fire procedure, which is displayed on the notice boards in the centre, as well as the position of fire extinguishers. Do not obstruct passageways and fire doors or wedge them open. Ensure all emergency lighting is operational – if not contact a member of centre management.
SEE THE FOLLOWING SECTION ON FIRE SAFETY.
8. A medical box and accident book is situated in the stewards’ room. Please ensure any accidents that occur are entered into the accident book.
Use of Walkley Community Centre Snooker Hall
1. The hirer will be held responsible for anyone they bring into the snooker hall and stewards’ room. You and they are NOT to enter any other rooms; you may have access to the downstairs toilet. Any reported breach of this may well lead to your membership being cancelled.
2. The hirer is responsible for the centre during the period of hire. This includes being responsible for any actions and behaviour of any member of their group or party. Drunkenness, violent, quarrelsome or riotous behaviour is not permitted on the premises.
3. No alcohol may be retailed by the hirer without the express permission of the trustees, who will need to check that all licensing conditions are met prior to permission being considered.
4. Smoking or any naked flames (including candles) are not permitted on the premises.
5. All furniture should be returned to its original position and the building should be left in a clean and tidy state.
6. Any equipment used in the kitchen should be washed and returned to their original place and dishcloths hung up. Any electrical equipment used should be switched off. All rubbish must be disposed of in the bin.
7. No items must be fixed to the walls using blue tack, pins or sticky tape.
8. No additional electrical equipment (including fires) or gas fires should be brought onto the premises.
9. It is very important to ensure noise is kept to a minimum – the fire doors should always be closed throughout your period of hire. Leave the building quietly with the minimum of noise to reduce disturbance to neighbours.
Ending of Hire Agreements
Cancellation by Hirer
If you wish to cancel your snooker membership you must first return your keys and receive your deposit back, then the treasurer will cancel from your next payment of the direct debit. If you cancel your direct debit before returning your keys this will immediately void your membership of the snooker hall.
Cancellation by Walkley Community Centre
Walkley Community Centre reserves the right to terminate any HIRE with four weeks written notice. Reasons could include (but are not restricted to) hire charge arrears, security breaches or misuse of the building either by breaching this hire agreement or by breaching the conditions of the Centre’s licence agreed by Sheffield City Council. In cases of severe breaches of this hire agreement or licence, Walkley Community Centre reserves the right to summarily terminate the agreement with no notice being required.
Equal Opportunities
Walkley Community Centre believes strongly in Equal Opportunities in relation to hiring and using our community facilities. All bookings are made with the understanding that hirers agree to abide by our Equal Opportunities Policy. Any group or individual who misrepresents their identity to secure a booking, and by doing so breaches our Equal Opportunities Policy will have their booking cancelled immediately. All hirers must sign and return the attached form for their booking to be confirmed.
